Beijing weather
Beijing has four very distinct seasons. So distinct in fact that it often seems to leap straight from autumn to winter or spring to summer with hardly any warning or transition! Be prepared for dry weather most of the year, particularly in mid summer and winter when it rarely rains or snows. You'll want a good moisturiser during these months!
August can bring sudden rain bursts so an umbrella is a good idea (although the umbrella sellers are always more prepared for this than pedestrians!) You'll probably be glad to have one all summer actually as this is how locals create shade for themselves on Beijing's wide sunny streets. Winter can easily get below zero and very windy, so brace yourself against the temperatures with a good warm windproof coat. Our favourite season in Beijing is autumn as this usually brings bluer than usual skies, long sunny days and gorgeous red and orange leaves in the parks, countryside and tree lined streets.
